[News] Miley Cyrus Undergoes Surgery to Have Cyst Removed From Wrist

Miley Cyrus recently underwent surgery to remove a cyst from the inside her wrist and the operation was performed on Friday, a source told E! News exclusively. It was a scheduled outpatient procedure, another source said, adding, "She's doing fine."
The 22-year-old pop star is maintaining her sense of humor about it: She had on Friday posted on her Instagram a photo of herself wearing what appears to be a hospital gown, which she deemed to be "sooooo hipster," as well as extremely graphic photos of a surgical procedure.
She also shared several photoshopped versions of what looks like her wrist (characterized by what appears to be her "Wukong" tattoo) with a wound showing raw flesh and held open with surgical instruments. It is unclear if the pics are authentic or who took them.
"I have pizza in my veins," she wrote in one caption, alongside a pic of a pizza slice graphic inside the wound.
Among the other photos seen in other variations of the graphic pic: Images of Justin Bieber, Elvis Presley, a smiley face and her late dog, Floyd.
"Omg Floyd veinz," she said.
It is unclear what kind of cyst Cyrus had removed.
Lumps found on the wrist or other parts of the hand are usually benign. One of the most common types are ganglion cyst, which are sometimes called "Bible's Cysts" or "Bible Bumps." Some go away on their own, while others require surgical removal if they start to cause pain or discomfort.

[Music] Watch Miley Cyrus Perform New Song 'The Twinkle Song' at Art Basel

Miley Cyrus debuted a new original song while performing at Art Basel Wednesday night called "The Twinkle Song," she said was inspired by her friend's cat dying.
"I've never played by myself on a stage before and U've never played a song that I've only played in my living room before, so I'm a little nervous," she said standing before her audience in a sparkling silver wig.
She explained the song had been inspired by dreams the night her friend's cat died, saying, "I feel like her cat kind of told me what I was supposed to say to get her through it... It was more therapy to me than anything."
In the same performance, Cyrus smoked pot onstage, sang a duet with a topless woman and was joined by Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips.

[News] Miley to attend the Art Basel Opening Night Party in Miami next week

Gratuitous tongue wagging. Thong onesies. Human-sized bananas.
Where are we? An Art Basel Miami Beach rager? Or a Miley Cyrus arena show?
Exactly. And that's why it is almost no surprise that America's most ratchet former Disney starlet is bringin' dem Bangerz to Basel week.
She has just been confirmed as the main attraction for Jeffrey Deitch, Tommy Hilfiger, and V Magazine's #ABMB bash at the Raleigh Hotel on South Beach.
But, duh, it's a private, invite-only thang.
Of course, Art Basel Miami Beach week is a seven-day stretch of art, music, and non-stop partying that's chockablock with nudity and puking in pools, among other such shenanigans. (And that's just the site-specific art.) So Miley's gonna fit in fine.
Meanwhile, this Basel gig is merely the latest significant moment in an ever-intensifying love affair between Ms. Cyrus and a certain sphere of the art world. She's stripped naked and humped a "Wrecking Ball" for hipster fashion photog Terry Richardson. She's remade the Beatles' "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" and "A Day in the Life" with not-so-secret pop tart admirer Wayne Coyne and his band, the Flaming Lips. And now she's about to get turnt up with puckish art dealer Mr. Deitch, AKA the guy who mistook Diddy for Kanye West at last year's Art Basel Miami Beach.
So far, there's no word on the exact plan for Miley's #ABMB act.

[News] Demi Lovato talking about Miley

Demi Lovato is opening up about her relationship with Miley Cyrus after being asked by a fan if she’s still friends with the singer during a radio interview.

“Um…yeah… that, um… we’re, we’re like, we’re acquaintances,” the 21-year-old singer said during her interview on The TJ Show/Boston’s 103.3 AMP Radio on Monday morning (November 24).

“It’s life, and people change, and, you know, I don’t have anything in common with her anymore, and I wish her all the best,” Demi added.

[News] Miley is very much alive and living it up with Patrick Schwarzenegger at Hollywood party

Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger were out and about in Tinseltown over the weekend, and our spies say they were the life of a party — even though social media was buzzing with a hoax that Cyrus was dead.

The “Party in the U.S.A.” singer and Ah-nuld’s son, 21, were alive and well in West Hollywood, enjoying a big night out, spies tell Confidenti@l. “They were not leaving each other’s sides,” says a tipster at Bagatelle restaurant in West Hollywood. Though Cyrus and the Son of the Terminator have been private about the nature of their relationship, we’re told that no one at the chic SoCal eatery had any confusion about them Friday night. “Something is going on,” we’re told. “It’s pretty obvious.”

Cyrus, Schwarzenegger and about a dozen friends rolled into the eatery at 11:30 p.m., with Cyrus turning heads in a floor-length red dress. She looked ready to party, but we’re told the Hardest Twerking Woman in show business — who turns 22 in two weeks — took it easy. “They were all ordering tequila shots and Champagne and she just wanted water,” says our snitch. “It looked like they were mostly friends of Patrick’s.” Schwarzenegger posted several photos from the Bagatelle outing on his Twitter account, though Cyrus didn’t appear in any of them.

[News] Wayne Coyne Explains His Friendship With Miley Cyrus: "She's A Bigger Freak Than I Am"

Wayne Coyne and Miley Cyrus have become good friends over the past year. Their shenanigans are documented all over Instagram, and they've collaborated on short films, performances, and new music. Most recently, Cyrus worked with Coyne and his band The Flaming Lips on their latest album With A Little Help From My Fwends, where they cover The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Although their close friendship seems unlikely with such an age difference, Coyne says they actually have a lot in common. In an interview with Radio.com, Coyne dished on what it's like working with Cyrus and what he admires about her.
"Last year, if there was a 'person of the year,' it was Miley Cyrus," he told them. "I had a sense that she just didn't give a f--k. She had so many people telling her how stupid she was, or how embarrassing she was. But also, she had a lot of people telling her how absolutely great she was. And I could tell that she was like, 'I don't give a f-k what people think.' And to me, that's when the power of music and art really starts to accelerate."
He continued: "Because if you're really trying to sell records, that's a difficult area to play in. If you're trying to be popular, that's difficult. If you're trying to be something other than yourself, you're probably gonna lose. But I could tell with her, she's like, 'I'm just doing whatever the f--k I want and I don't give a f--k what people think.' And I think she knew that we were fans, and last year on my birthday she tweeted a happy birthday wish to me and said that I was one of her favorite artists, and I tweeted her right back. We just got each other's numbers after that and became friends. I think if you were around her, after five minutes you'd go, 'Oh, I get it.' I don't think I would have any fun being in the studio with someone that was surrounded by managers and handlers. She's not like that at all. I think that most of the people that are going to want to be around me aren't like that."
He compared working with Cyrus to working with Kesha, noting that the power Cyrus has over her career and projects is much different than Kesha's, who is works under the shadow of Dr. Luke, the producer she is currently suing.
"But Miley, in a sense, is like me in that she just does what she wants to do. She's the boss, she's not calling anybody saying, 'Can I do a song with Flaming Lips?' If she wants to do it, she just does it. And anybody that works for her says, 'Great, let's go do it!' And I think her camp does not look at it as being absurd."
Incase you weren't convinced that Cyrus is as big of a weirdo as she makes herself out to be online, Coyne confirms that it isn't an act.
"They know her, she's a freak. I can tell you for sure, she's a bigger freak than I am. You'd love her. I mean, if you were around her, the perception that people have, that would completely disappear, you'd just love her. She's absolutely fun and full of love."

[News] Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips on working with Miley

In a recent interview with Huffington Post, The Flaming Lips vocalist Wayne Coyne mentioned Miley. Check out what he said below:

When you got in the studio with Miley, were you there working on other projects? It was mostly this other stuff. We had a couple of tracks that were Flaming Lips-designed tracks for her to sing on. We thought if we had time, we’d do "Lucy In The Sky." Then it all just worked out. I think it’s only one or two takes that you hear on there. It’s almost like anything she sings is great. She had a great way of doing it and was very Miley. That wasn’t the agenda but it became that.Is the other stuff you recorded with Miley intended as a "Miley Cyrus release" or is that a collaboration project? She’s going to be done with her tour soon, and we just sort of set aside time. We’ll get together and make music and hopefully we’ll make a bunch and pick and choose what could be Miley Cyrus’ next record. I don’t know if she’ll just work with us, but we’ve been working like that. She’s musical and creative and has got a billion ideas. She’s open to everything. It’s not stressful and it’s not scary. There’s no ego. That makes it very easy to say, "Fuck yeah, let’s make some music!" I love her to death. I really do. I absolutely love her.

[News] Ariana Grande takes advice from Miley

Ariana Grande has taken advice from Miley Cyrus about how to deal with being called a "diva".

The 21-year-old singer has been the subject of unflattering reports in recent months, including speculation about her behaviour on sets.

But Ariana insists critics have it all wrong, and now reveals fellow pop star Miley helped her get over feeling so 'heartbroken' over the negative attention.

'I was upset and I contacted Miley. I said, 'Miley, I'm so sad ' what do I do? This isn't true. My heart is broken, I feel so bad,' she recalled to UK newspaper The Mirror.

Miley, she says, told her to ignore all the gossip. And she's praised the Wrecking Ball singer for sharing her 'beautiful spirit'.

'She was like, 'Girl, don't even look at it. Just be happy that you're blessed. You have family and friends love you, you have fans that love you who know what's true and what's not. It will blow over and tomorrow they'll be talking about something else,' Ariana recalled.

'She lives for love and that's something I do too. She has a beautiful spirit and she made me feel so much better.'

Ariana also spoke about the unique challenges she faces as a woman in the industry.

She believes females 'absolutely' have a more difficult time, and points to her own experience as an example.

'If you see a woman working hard who is successful ' who doesn't stop until she reaches her goal, who is strong and has wishes and dreams she wants to fulfil, and works hard every day ' you label them a diva,' she said.

'But if you see a man doing that, you're like, 'He's incredible, he's an amazing businessman.'

'It's hard, but it's something that's going to blow over. I try to separate my personal brain space from this. Whether it's good or bad, there's usually very little truth to what's being said about me,' she reasoned.

[News] Hilary Duff Calls Miley Cyrus ‘Authentic’ and ‘Bold'

Hilary Duff catapulted to fame after her titular role on Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire, and went on to pursue a successful music career without caring the stigma that comes with a maturing House of Mouse star.
The 26-year-old, who is now a mother to 2-year-old Luca Cruz Comrie, dropped by Elvis Duran and the Morning Show on Wednesday, and discussed about her subtle transition into adulthood as opposed to her Disney colleague Miley Cyrus.
“I think that Miley is being authentic to who she is and who she wants to be and I think that’s rad,” said Hilary. “Unapologetically, she is going for it and being really bold and not really caring what anybody thinks. I do identify with like the frustrations of having to be a good role model, or did. Maybe not so much anymore.”
Despite the squeaky-clean image the “Chasing the Sun” singer has upheld for her entire career, she confessed to making messy mistakes during her seven-year hiatus from the limelight.
“That was hard because you do want to explore yourself and there’s this reputation to hold up or whatever,” she continued. “But I took a big break just because I needed to, and I really got to do a lot of living and soul searching, and I got to mess up, but I just did it a little more privately than the others.”
Hilary is currently working on her comeback album, whose October release was pushed back to a new and unknown date. However, the music for her newest single “All About You” is expected to drop on Wednesday.

[News] Miley Cyrus Slapped With A Fine After Getting Spanked With Mexican Flag

Miley Cyrus may be fined by Mexico’s federal government after getting her butt spanked with the country’s flag by one of her dancers at her show on Tuesday night in Monterrey. In lawmakers’ eyes, the act was disrespectful (it also happened to be Mexico’s Independence Day), and one official from the region, Francisco Trevino, stated that she may either have to cough up $1,200 or be kept in custody for three days.

[News] iHeartRadio Festival cancelled

The Hosts for the iHeartMusic festival in Australia announced last Thursday that the festival had been canceled, which is a shame for all the Smilers out there because Miley was meant to be a headlining performance in the festival.

The iHeartMusic festival was due to kick off in Sydney at Allphones Arena on the 18th of October with a seating capacity of more than 20,00 people, the IHeartRadio tickets only went on sales a week before the news of cancellation, and of course all fans are entitled to a full refund.

The organizers of the event, iHeatRadio and promoters Dainty Group commented on the unfortunate news by stating “Our objective for this first iHeartRadio Australia Music Festival was to create the very best experience possible for music lovers, and when this wasn’t possible, the difficult but the necessary decision was made to cancel.”

Then continued to elaborate on reasoning for cancelling the event by saying “This is as a consequence of the unavailability of another headline act, who was due to be announced this week.”

But to add a positive note to this whole situation, a spokesperson of iheartRadio mentioned holding an iHeartRadio festival in Australia is not ruled out altogether, and the event would be revisited at a later stage.

[News] Ed Sheeran talking about Miley in a recent interview

You know those awful moments when you say something controversial, which you don’t even really mean, but it just COMES OUT? Yup, imagine that happening on the red carpet of the Grammys in front of major media outlets. Agh, cringefest.

That’s exactly what happened to the lovely Ed Sheeran last year, when he went off on a rant about Miley Cyrus and her regular twerkfests. We assumed that he’d just been having a bit of a laugh, but Sheerio has admitted that he really regrets his comments and wants to send a big sorry to Miley for being mean.

Chatting with Howard Stern yesterday, Ed confessed that he thinks he was in the wrong for dissing Miley, explaining: “There was a thing that happened around a year ago involving Miley Cyrus... I was at an after-party at the Grammys, ... and there was a red carpet at this after-party. I just had a bit of a rant, which I didn’t really mean. I woke up the next morning and got this anxiety thing.”

I said [something] along the lines of, ‘You’re voice is amazing, your songs are amazing, just stop twerking.’ I didn’t say it in the nicest way and I do genuinely love her music and think her voice is great,” he spilled.

Seeing as he's basically the nicest pie in all the land, Ed also said that he really wants to say sorry personally to Miley, adding: “I don’t really know what to do. I’ll find a way to [apologize].

[News] Tish Cyrus: "Me and Miley twerk every Saturday morning"

Miley Cyrus and her mother Tish twerk ''every Saturday morning''.
The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker has helped to popularise the provocative dance with her controversial on-stage performances and according to her mother, the pair twerk while they are making breakfast together at weekends.
Tish explained: ''Every Saturday morning when we are making breakfast, we twerk in the kitchen. It is so much fun.''
What's more, Tish said that she takes no offence in being referred to as Miley's mother, saying she's very proud of all that Miley has achieved through her career.
She said: ''You know, I joke about it [changing] from being 'Billy Cyrus' wife' to 'Miley Cyrus' mom. But no, not really. I am proud of her -- she is my child.''
Tish also spoke about the controversy her daughter's on-stage antics have created, insisting that her unusual behaviour makes her an easy target for the press and others.
She remarked: ''I think that anybody that is interesting and takes risks is always going to be a target. They talked about her cutting her hair off, and now everybody is cutting their hair and shaving half their heads.''
Asked whether she intends to follow suit, Tish added: ''Oh, I would if I wasn't so old and my hair did not take so long to grow back!''

[News] Miley Cyrus Presents: "Dirty Hippie"

Miley Cyrus is much more than "a pop pop dumb dumb": just look at the incredible work she is doing for "My Friend's Place", a Hollywood-based drop-in service for homeless youth. Truly a rebellious spirit (see the cover of V91 The Rebel Issue), Ms. Cyrus has chosen to use a voice that already tends to echo to say everything that's on her mind, and in so doing, speak for a generation.

That's why when she asked V if we could display her latest creative venture - a collection of collaged sculptures entitled "Dirty Hippie" - we didn't hesitate to agree. Even so, we weren't quite sure what to expect, so we sent our arts editor Kevin McGarry to Los Angeles before she packed up all the pieces.

You’ve seen the late night transmissions via Instagram: raver bracelets, sparkle-coated candy wrappers, dime bags, a five-foot bong. From dusk until dawn, somewhere high up in the hills of Studio City, Miley Cyrus is madly tinkering away on all the shit she loves, making it into her art. Having mastered her own field before reaching her second numerical palindrome, she'd hardly be the first pop deity to carpetbag the art world for sport, only this is precisely what she's not doing. Miley's not here to make friends, she's here to make some fun shit. Cobbling together stadium offerings from fans with illicit substances and USB drives imprinted with TMZ-worthy selfies, her first series of sculptures are more earnest than an art school cynic might expect. I did a studio visit at Miley's studio-cum-living room, where she was putting the finishing touches on a half dozen sculptures that will be on view at the V offices' gallery at 11 Mercer Street, NYC from September 11th, and feature in Jeremy Scott’s NYFW show on September 10th. “We’re on the same wavelength—it’s like a psychedelic jungle,” Scott told me. “All of these stream of consciousness, colorful, playful, whimsical things mixed up together. I love that there’s a DIY feel to the sculptures, which is a part of the look of the show. I want it to be less about a model army and more about a group of cool, individualized people hanging out together.”

MILEY CYRUS When Jeremy [Scott] came here for a July 4th party, I had all these leis around, and I wanted to see how I could incorporate them into his show. I’m having the guy who made the bear I came out of at the VMAs last year come over tonight to help me fix all this shit because it’s kind of a mess. [Pointing out art pieces individually] This one’s a vibrator, which I got from a fan. They threw it on stage. And that’s a joint [attached to it], so that’s the vibe. I’ve gotten more and more about piling things on, but I try to put thought into everything. Even though it’s so stupid, I did the pineapple because you know what they say about pineapple, right?

Not sure…
MC Yummy cum? If you drink a lot of pineapple juice you’re going to have yummy cum. So that’s why I put it on the dick with a bunch of babies, and it says, “Fuck.” I try to think about everything so it has a story to me.

This one’s a party hat?
MC Yeah, this is the first one I did and it’s still not quite 100% done. It has an iPod player. You can play music. You put your auxiliary right there. It’s like the ultimate party hat. During that 4th of July party, I saw this party hat and I thought it might be fun to glue some shit onto it. I just made it for myself to wear. And then someone was like, Oh this is great, you should keep going… [Pointing] There are drugs in that, and then there’s a blunt… This one says, “In your dreams you can buy expensive cars,” which is really weird because when Jeremy was doing his collection, there’s some stuff that says, “Expensive.” There’s one thing that says, “Cars” on it. There are some key words that we had no idea we were both using.

Tell me about this camera.
MC I made Jeremy this because he loves to shoot, too. It’s a real camera. There are like, five pictures left, and there are pictures of me from tour on here. It’s a disposable, but when you take the picture it makes it look like you have a unicorn head, so when it prints out—it’s cool. They actually make boots that kind of look like this for the collection, too. So that was weird. I sent him this and then he sent me a picture of the new boots.

This mask with the little white bears is really different from the rest.
MC This is my favorite piece, but it's the one that’s taking the most time. I’m figuring out the strap now because I’ve done it so many different ways, and it keeps being too heavy and stabbing people. When I go through them all, I’m going to fix them and patch up some of these holes, because I started pinning them all on and then it got harder and harder to pin them. So some of them are kind of sewn on here… Whatever. [Pointing] At first this was just this, and then I had this in my hair one day and was like, Fuck it, I think it needs it. It kind of makes it tribal.

Sure, I can see that, you’re taking a bunch of consumer detritus and making symbolic, ceremonial objects out of it.
MC Yeah. This seems so fucking lame to say but I feel like my art became kind of a metaphor—an example of my life. Because a bunch of shitty things kept happening. I’ve always been so fucking lucky. Everything has always just been easy for me. And at the beginning of this year, I hated 2014 because everything that could go wrong kept going wrong. Being in the hospital, my dog dying...Everything just kept shitting on me and shitting on me. So then I started taking all of those shit things and making them good, and being like, I’m using it. My brother and my friends all said that’s what they felt I was doing. So, that’s how I started making art. I had a bunch of fucking junk and shit, and so instead of letting it be junk and shit, I turned it into something that made me happy.

It’s exciting you’re going to be sharing it with the world now.
MC Jeremy brought a lot of peace and self worth to me because even though to some people, it was just me gluing some things together, to me, it made me not a fucking pop star dumbass. And that’s my goal in my life: to not die a pop pop dumb dumb. I can’t. I will freak out. I just wanted to give myself something I can work at, and even now, if I had more time and I wasn’t on tour, I know I could outdo any of this because I’ve grown while doing it.

When is your tour over?
MC October. I can’t wait, just because I want to get home and I want to work on directing; I want to be doing this. I want to be learning. I enrolled in a CGI class. I’d like to make animations with these at some point. That’s kind of why I started doing them. I wanted to animate a lot of them, but then our tour budget got squashed because apparently it takes ten billion dollars to take shit to South America and Australia.

You are really into keeping yourself busy.
MC I just sit around and smoke weed anyway, so I might as well sit around, smoke weed, and do something. And this is me doing something. I love it. I mean, I’m up until seven in the morning doing this stuff all the time. It was much weirder when I started doing it while I was sober.

Have you ever studied art?
MC I haven’t. When I was in school—obviously, I think art is everyone’s favorite class—but I would get in trouble because I would always draw fucked-up things. I don’t know why, but I would always draw girls in a bathtub. I remember my teachers calling my parents and being like, What the fuck? I never had a bunch of time to just sit at home and do this. After Floyd died, I had a bunch of time at home. Being on tour was a big part of this, too, because I picked up so much junk along the way. I was in a lot of airports—airports are the best for hoarding—so I got a bunch of shit there, and the fans helped me hoard out a little bit. This fucking banana was a hamster toy at Petco and I Bedazzled it. [Pointing] And then there’s something like this, that you can take out and it’s bubbles. And then this. It’s like the Vivienne Westwood dick. A fan gave me that.

Do you have many friends who are visual artists?
MC I do. I’ve been working with Ben Jones [animator for Wonder Showzen and Yo Gabba Gabba!] a little bit. He’s really cool. He’s done a lot of stuff on tour. John K. [creator of The Ren & Stimpy Show], too. They’re both animators, which I’d like to get into. And Todd James, who did my bears and everything for the 2013 VMAs is really awesome and a good person to learn from. He involves sex in his pieces in a really cool way, which is what I want to do. I feel there’ s something fairly sexual here, besides just the dick. There’s something sexy about the masks. They’re a little fucked up and childish. Todd kind of did that for me, turning me into an adult baby.

For a lot of artists, one of the biggest challenges is finding an audience for what they make. Clearly, you already have one. So what do you feel you’re working towards?
MC I’ve been around a lot of money my whole life. They say money can’t buy happiness and it’s totally true. Money can buy you a bunch of shit to glue to a bunch of other shit that will make you happy, but besides that, there’s no more happiness. There’s no point in me focusing on getting any fucking richer. Obviously the shit you buy doesn’t make you happier because I’m sitting here gluing a bunch of junk to stuff. My whole philosophy with everything is: Do what you love and you’re not going to work ever again. You’re not going to work a day in your life if you’re doing what you’re into and you’re happy doing it. Don’t think about repercussions. My fans will be into it, especially because I’m involving them. It’s building connections with people. And I'll have my stuff on models—stuff that I’m excited for them to wear. I’m excited. And this is giving me happiness, so that’s all I have to focus on.

"Dirty Hippie" will be on display at 11 Mercer starting September 11th, 2014.

[News] ILOVEMAKONNEN Says Fans Are ‘Gonna Cry’ When They Hear His Miley Cyrus Collab

ILOVEMAKONNEN has already collaborated with one of the biggest names in music when Drake showing up on his “Club Going Up On A Tuesday” remix. But the Atlanta-based upstart also has some music in the stash with another pop juggernaut.

“Me and Miley Cyrus are friends; I don’t have her number, but we’re friends,” the singer and rapper said with a smile in a recent interview with MTV News. “We’re online friends and in-person friends.”

That personal relationship is also a working one, it turns out.

“I got a song with her — wrote a few songs for her,” he said. “Working on her new album. Doing some stuff with Mike Will and her.”

“It’s almost like a Grammy nomination song, because it’s kind of heartfelt, and almost country,” he added. “It’s gonna be deep when it comes out. It’s definitely not like the clubby type of poppy record. It’s more like a real timeless, heartfelt record that’s gonna be picked up in movies and sh–. Girls are gonna cry over their ex-boyfriends to it, and the same for guys crying over their girl.”

There’s another track, where the newbie — recently signed to Drizzy’s OVO Sound — takes the lead. “We have one where I’m more of the lead on the vocals, and it’s… relationship based and like, ‘Alright, you wanna leave me, then go ahead and leave me. But I loved you.’”

As for when we’ll hear these records?

“Whenever RCA gets that goddamn sh– out,” he joked.

[News] Miley Cyrus Taking a Stand Against Dominican Republic Concert Ban

Miley Cyrus isn't backing down from her often eyebrow-raising onstage antics.
After a government-run group banned the 21-year-old pop star from performing a scheduled show in the capital of Santo Domingo on Sept. 13, which would have marked her first concert in the Dominican Republic, a source tells E! exclusively that Miley is taking a stand against the ban after her performance was prohibited.
We're told that a legal challenge has been filed by the tour's promotor in the Dominican Republic to remove the ban. The filing argues that an administrative decision made to ban artistic expression is in violation of the Dominican Republic constitution.
"Miley wants to defend artistic expression for all artists," the source said.
The Dominican Republic's national entertainment and radio commission (CNEPR) said in a statement on Thursday that the ban was issued because Cyrus performs "acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law,"  local newspaper Hoy reported.
A poll commissioned by the outlet showed that 64 percent of participants agreed with the ban, while the rest opposed it, saying it violates freedom of expression.
The Santo Domingo concert was announced in June, about four months after Cyrus began her Bangerz tour, with a Dominican Republic tourism site promoting the forthcoming show as "spectacular" and "highly anticipated."
Meanwhile, the "Wrecking Ball" beauty, whose tour continues this fall in South America, Australia and New Zealand, is next scheduled to perform in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Sept. 11.

[News] Ed Sheeran Slams Miley Cyrus Feud After VMAs Drama, Says He's "Never Met Her"

All good? Although Miley Cyrus was caught calling Ed Sheeran an "a--hole" while he accepted the MTV VMA for Best Male Video of the Year for "Sing," the British singer told Ryan Seacrest that he has no beef with the "Wrecking Ball" singer.
In case you missed it, while en route to the stage to accept his Moonman this past Sunday, Sheeran reached out for high-fives and Cyrus was undeniably caught mouthing "a--hole" as he passed by her. Sheeran, however, says he is unfazed by the diss. "Well, I don’t know why people were expecting that [high-five]. I’ve never met her," he told Seacrest on Wednesday, Aug. 27 when asked about the drama. "There was a high-five between me and Scooter [Braun] because I know him, and that was the only high-five. I don’t know what people were expecting," he added.
Taylor Swift's BFF went on to dispel any bad blood. "I think she’s a fantastic artist," he said of the twerking queen. "I think she’s got a great voice, writes great songs."
Back in September 2013, Sheeran had a different point of view and made headlines when he called Cyrus’ MTV VMAs showstopping moment a "stripper's move" to The Mirror. "If I had a daughter of mine, I wouldn’t want her twerking," he said. "When I first heard 'Wrecking Ball,' I thought it was a brilliant song. But the video distracts too much from it."

[News] Miley Cyrus Defends Criminal Past Of Homeless VMA Date

Miley Cyrus is jumping to the defense of the young homeless man who accepted her MTV Video Music Award this weekend.

The singer took to Twitter after news surfaced about the criminal background of 22-year-old Jesse Helt, who attended the ceremony as the face of a Hollywood homeless youth shelter supported by Miley called My Friend's Place.  The pop star writes:

People who are homeless have lived very hard lives. Jesse included.

She says she hopes that his story "can be the start of a national conversation about youth homelessness" and also poses a question about the media's scrutiny of Jesse asking, "does looking down upon the homeless help people excuse their inaction?"

A number of stars have voiced their support of Miley after she used her spotlight at the VMAs for the important cause.  Maria Shriver, Susan Sarandon, Britney Spears and Emma Roberts have all tweeted their encouragement.
